Marriage Counseling
Marriage counseling is designed to help couples strengthen the connection and intimacy in their relationships. Crossroads wants to help you manage conflict and learn to communicate in a healthy way, appreciate your relationship's strengths, and navigate through challenges. Developing and maintaining relational health is one of the core values at Crossroads. We believe healthy marriages produce healthy families which produce healthy communities.
Fees for the assessment of your counseling is based on the number of hours needed to complete the three-step process. Generally the assessment requires about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. It also requires 1 to 2 hours of paperwork.
Step #1 — Intake Interviews — 60-90 minutes
Step #2 — Individual Interviews — 45-60 minutes each
Step #3 — Recommendations for treatment and goal setting — 45-60 minutes
The length of therapy will be determined by your specific needs and goals. During the course of counseling, we will establish points at which to evaluate your satisfaction and progress. Most of your work will be together as a couple; however, there may be times when individual sessions are recommended. Throughout counseling there will be exercises for you to work on between sessions.
In the later stage of counseling, we will meet less frequently to give you an opportunity to practice your relationship skills. When your goals have been reached, we will plan an outcome-evaluation phase and five follow-up sessions. One after three months, six months, 12 months, 18 months, and one after two years. The goal of these follow-up sessions is to fine-tune any relationship skills needed and to decrease the chances of relapse into previous unhelpful behaviors.
