Parent and Family Life Coaching
“What is Parent/Family Life Coaching?”
-Cindy Barshinger, MSEd
Parent Family Life Coaching is about developing a collaborative relationship that involves listening, delivering resources, showing/describing new strategies, providing feedback, and offering positive encouragement on the lifelong journey called parenting. Some common parenting challenges include defiant behaviors, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, ADHD, and other special needs. Building on family strengths is essential for learning new skills and strategies.
Cindy Barshinger is Parent/Family Life Coach with 40 years of teaching experience and 7 years as a Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner. She enjoys helping families work through challenging behaviors that create frustration, chaos, and struggles in the home. Cindy helps build a solid foundation for families by looking at relationships within the family and developing skills in both adults and children to build connections in the home. Connection leads to cooperation and correction.
The first session with Cindy is for parents only where we review the intake form, get a clear picture of where parents would like to be, and begin developing actions steps for getting there. Adults receive an email summarizing the session and listing action steps to work on between sessions. Subsequent sessions may include adults, children, or a combination of both as determined together through email updates. Cindy is comfortable working with families that include children of all ages.
Life coaching is different than counseling. It is not covered by insurance and requires an out-of-pocket investment. It is incredibly beneficial for parents who truly want to see change and are ready to work.
Cindy can be found adventuring in nature, volunteering in the community, and seeking out many ways to learn. She has been married to her husband for 38 years and enjoys spending time with their two adult children.
